Places to Avoid

So if you've noticed I added a section above my posts entitled "Places to Avoid". This is a section where I list businesses who feel it's better to sell you religion either out front or secretly instead of selling you a consumable product.

This list will be ever expanding and I am ALWAYS looking for additions to this. If enough people stop shopping at these places, we can send a message to these companies that selling their religion to their customers is NOT something we want.

So if you have any businesses to add, just reply to this message and let me know of the company, and if they have a website with the obvious references to religion on them.

Also, they are all xians so far, so if anyone comes by and thinks I'm singling out xians, you're dead wrong, that's just all I can find so far.

In NO god we trust

So, if anyone hasn't been able to tell, I post up a LOT of stuff where my dad is involved. On July 4th it was another case.

One of our local papers called the Deseret News (basically the newspaper for Mormons) had a bunch of articles with stuff about the 4th and Independence Day and the like. In part of the newspaper there was an add that had some quotes from the founding fathers as well as the words "In God We Trust" prominently displayed in the middle of the page.

I made the comment that that saying should be removed as it's not inclusive of all Americans. He looked at me unsure of what I meant so I continued on to say that the phrase doesn't include people of a non-theist or a poly-theist view as it references a singular "God".

His response to this? *drumroll* "Well they're wrong"

>_> O_o *facepalm* wtf? At what point did I say ANYTHING about who's right or wrong, just that it's NOT inclusive of all Americans.

I tried to explain again that there are a LARGE number of Americans either believe in no god or multiple gods. I explained in detail that the phrase doesn't include people like Native Americans, Buddhists, Taoists, and even Atheists.

How did he respond this time? *drumrolllllll* "Well they're wrong"

>_> Umm...broken record anyone? That's seriously how he could only respond for like 20 minutes...this goes beyond the retarded fundie responses even. I just kept trying to explain how it's not inclusive of all Americans and after the 20 minutes he finally didn't say anything. =_= About damn time if you ask me.

It never ceases to amaze me how he NEVER uses his brain to actually think about things and automatically assumes that it's ALLLLLLL mormonism or nothing.

And just to top it off, earlier today (today being Monday) while I was eating dinner, he says that he wants me to go to church and keep the commandments I agreed to when I was 8. Yeah...what 8 year old in their right mind would understand those things first off. Secondly, as I've mentioned before, I've had doubts since I was a young kid anyways.

I'll be SOOOOO glad when I can get a job again and get to a point that I can move into an apartment. That way I don't have to listen to such absolute drivel such as this.
