We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
Ok, I can't really overly condemn this one as it compels members to be good people. I will however say that doing all these good acts in the name of pleasing a deity so you can gain a place in "heaven" is both disgusting and also shows a great deal of selfishness. If you have to do good to impress the sky pixy so that way you can have a better spot, there is NOTHING altruistic about this, you are simply doing good for your own benefit, that's all.
Now, if one of the believers could look me straight in the eye, and tell me they do good things SIMPLY to do good things...I'd call them a liar. There is no way that someone who believes in the myth of jebus would do this.
Who I am
- Sakura
- I am an atheist, in fact, I describe myself as a Humanist for I believe in the good in people, not mythical beings.
Places to avoid
This is a section for establishments that openly promote religion:
National Chains
Chick-fil-a
In-n-Out Burger
Alaska Airlines (include bible quotes with meals)
Forever 21 (puts John 3:16 on their tags)
Country Bob's sauces (look who the CEO is)
Edwards frozen pies (bible verse on pie tin)
Desert Essence (beauty products)
Estes (aquarium stones)
Food for Life (baked goods)
Brim's Old South (chips and the like)
Daniel Chapter One (look at the mission statement at the bottom)
Curves (gyms, leaves bibles in workout areas)
Aldi Foods (has buybull verses on the inside of egg cartons)
Local
Megaplex Theatres* Utah
Carter Brothers Bar-B-Que North Carolina
Franchises (companies who don't seem to be religiously affiliated but might have franchisees who do)
Subway
If you know of any others, please send me a message giving me the name of the company and if possible a link to the company's website showing that they promote religious ideas.
For example http://www.incrediblepizza.com/about.php If you look at bullet number 3 under the mission statement. "We operate our business by Christian principles". The alternate of this would be if they have a religious symbol on their products and/or building. In the case of the pizza company, they have the jebus fish on the doors as you walk in.
I have to give credit to the religutards over at http://www.prophecyfellowship.org/archive/index.php/t-147138.html who posted most of these for me to find so easily!
*Megaplex Theatres is owned by the Larry H Miller Corp who gives 10% of their earnings to the LDS church
If you have the name and possibly a website of a company who proseltyzies a religion and would like me to add it, please comment on this post: http://yamipirogoeth.blogspot.com/2010/07/places-to-avoid.html

Articles of faith...or stupidity part 12
We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
...I think this one is pretty straightforward in that the language is clear "obey the law of the land"
However!! *dun dun dun* I rarely hear any members practicing this article.
What I mean is, I CONSTANTLY hear members railing against laws they don't like that are perfectly fine for the entire populace. Especially lately with the whole "homosexual agenda" bullshit that they keep pushing. Basically they bitch about anything that gives equality to anyone who isn't exactly like them.
Honestly, its nothing short of disgusting what they'll do to keep repressing the rights of others. For example, the Prop 8 thing in California...that was total bullshit and because of how much of an involvement the mormons had in it, they should be taxed as a political entity including back taxes owed since inception. Maybe this will prove a point to the rest of the religious community that you do NOT fuck with politics.

Pastor Mike wants YOU to "enlist"
This started when someone linked to The Freethinker UK on Facebook to this story http://freethinker.co.uk/2011/08/29/mad-pastors-facebook-presence-vanishes-after-he-proposes-a-register-for-atheists/
Hmm...so this pastor wants to have a national atheist registry. Ok, fair enough, however I want a registry for EVERYONE religion in this country...all the different hundreds of them out there while they're at it (including whatever flavor Mike subscribes to)
Now, down in the comments someone had linked to Mike's blog on Blogspot as well. Apparently he got his panties in a twist and had to respond on his blog here http://pastorstahl.blogspot.com/2011/08/atheists-arent-ashamed-of-being.html
I don't know which he is more...funny...or just stupid.
Take this for example: "I'll take the 'blame' for them just now cathing up to it , as perhaps I used too many syllables for their brains to process at a normal pace , huh?" Hmm...quite the near Ad Hominem attack against an entire freaking group of people...that's pretty low...especially after surveys have shown that atheists are smarter than those who subscribe to a religion (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/2111174/Intelligent-people-less-likely-to-believe-in-God.html)
And here's another example: "lack of belief is really an attempt by atheists to avoid facing and defending the problems in their atheistic position." WE don't need to defend our position, we got to our "lack of faith" after reading and examining their scriptures and determined that its all a bunch of bullshit. However, I can take this for a 180 and put the burden of proof on him in that HE should be the one ready to provide evidence that his sky tyrant and jebus actually exist. And no, the buybull does NOT count as that is just a collection of fairytales told to little children to scare the ever living shit out of them.
This one really gives me a giggle: "Y'all may not LITERALLY be "demons," but y'all are certainly under Satan's demonic control!" Hmm...it's REALLY hard to be under the control of something that doesn't exist...I might as well say that I'm under control of ganesha or zeus or thor or any of the MANY gods/goddesses that have existed through the ages. So, I can say that he is under the control of those who came before him and preached the same bullshit as he professes to believe in now (and its called brainwashing for those that want an easy word to describe it).
Ooooh, this one makes me chortle with laughter! "And NO! I won't post any comments and / or dignify them with people who REFUSE to want to know the truth of God's Word ( NOT MINE! )." Oh-ho, we finally get to the meat of the situation. In case you're wondering, someone over on the freethinker posted this to which Mike replied "You won't post the comment I sent nor any others unfavorable to your preaching. Dare you post those you chose to omit. Afraid?" So, he says he's not "afraid" of any atheist but won't let anyone post any sort of comment that contradicts his own belief...yeah...that's not just stupid but shows he's TOTALLY afraid of what someone smarter than he could say (and easily discount his beliefs as well)
Oooh, and a jem of a finale as well!! "- They'll hide behind the security blanket of their keyboards...being atheists in their PUBLIC blogs...someone like me mention putting their names on a PUBLIC registry...they whine like little school girls" Hmm...might want to be careful with that one Mike, usually people make fun of people calling them names (such as this) when they're only trying to hide that of themselves...or maybe your like a catholic priest and just haven't had anyone publicly come out about you yet (I can't say for certain).
I just find it funny when christards have to get on a blog and bitch and whine and moan like this. Its obvious they're scared of something (the truth about their fairytale lies told them as a child) and don't want to have to deal with the inevitable that they're doing nothing but wasting their only life which exists here and now instead of having fun and helping their fellow human beings as a true humanist would.

Mormons and Water
So a friend sent me this picture: http://macromeme.com/dog/adventure-mormon.html
I had to laugh and tell them it would suck if he fell in as all the waters are the realm of Satan. Yes, that's what they believe, and when someone is on their mission, they are specifically FORBIDDEN from getting into any sort of water save the bathtub/shower as Satan will force them to do something bad.
They started laughing like CRAZY at this and immediately responded "No wonder people skinny dip, Satan is controlling them and making them do that!!"
I had to laugh like crazy when they said that. But, at the same time, I do agree, it sounds absolutely ridiculous that Satan controls something that covers 2/3 of the planet.
But, that's about it for this little bit of random mormon ridiculousness

"Heroes" of the buybull
So I was in a store the other day (only cause my mom wanted to get a gift for my dad's birthday), this store sells all bullshit that is MORmON related. I was looking around, seeing all the same old moronic bullshit when I came across this stand for some posters (pic is 1920x2560 and 701kb, for anyone on a slow connection, here's a smaller 750x1000 version).
Granted that its hard to see who some of these "heroes" are but, just the fact that the stand is billed as such...I damn near literally laughed out loud in the middle of this store. XD I think what makes it even more funny is how they included the word "real" at the top to push that point.
...I need to write on a sticky note "please provide proof of any of these being 'real' outside of your fairy tale book called the bible" and check on it off and on...like ANY of them could really provide proof that these people really existed. Especially where the first one is supposed to be Joseph who was in Egypt...when there's NO mention of this in Egyptian history. I just love how they wouldn't be able to provide any proof of the main events that happen in the buybull either.
But, there you go, something to laugh at this Tuesday morning.

Articles of faith...or stupidity part 11
First off, sorry about the 2 months between posts, between school and working for an absolutely retarded company (who I'm not longer employed through), I haven't had a ton of time. But, here is an update for the articles of faith bullshit.
We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
...4 words in and already they're saying that they have some right that others don't. Privilege is a pretty powerful word and to say that they are privileged in anyway kind of seems a little on the self-righteous thing. Getting on through this...they mention that its up to your own conscience...however that is a flawed concept as they're going off the belief presets that have been programmed into their heads.
Now, granted that the last part gives some freedom to other beliefs but if you actually talk to most people who are mormon, they will tell you that any religion besides mainstream mormonism is a complete load and that they're wrong (I especially hear bullshit like that from my dad's mouth as well).
This one is probably their most benign piece of bull out of all of them, but, there are still 2 more to go...so we'll have to wait and see what they include!
